MEXT (UR) Scholarship: What is it?
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) offers scholarships to Japanese universities in 2022-2023.
MEXT Scholarships come in three forms:
- Bachelor Students: Applicants who have completed 12 years of schooling in a country other than Japan.
- Master’s course: Applicants who have completed 16 years of schooling in a country other than Japan.
- Doctoral Course: Students who have completed 18 years of schooling outside of Japan.
Financial Coverage of MEXT (UR) APU University
All expenses will be covered by the MEXT Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University Scholarship.
- Admission fee in full.
- Tuition (covered by the APU Tuition Reduction Scholarship): 100%
- Living expenses: 144,000 yen per month (subject to change)
- At the beginning and at the end of the program, air travel is provided between the home country and APU.
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the APU University Japan Scholarship
- Scholarships are available to all international students.
- From overseas, I intend to study in Japan.
- You must be a national of a MEXT-designated country
- A birth date of April 2, 1988 or later
- At their most recent university, they earned a minimum GPA of 2.30.
Requirements for proficiency in English
Requirements in terms of language
English language requirements must be met by all applicants.
According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), a B2 or above score on an English Proficiency Test is equivalent (e.g. TOEFL iBT 72, IELTS 5.5).
EITHER
The students whose language institute was in English can submit a certificate of English proficiency from their university and will not be required to take the language test.
